Fernando Wong Outdoor Living Design, Inc. of Palm Beach and Miami Beach announced the appointment of Phil Maddux as President of the landscape architecture firm. Mr. Maddux brings over 50 years of experience to the company that was founded in 2005 in Miami Beach and opened an office in Palm Beach in 2012.

He is a legend in the field of landscape architecture and someone whom I have admired professionally for over a decade,” commented Mr. Wong. “I remember reading his books and being in awe of his talent. Phil Maddux’s distinguished career began after earning graduate degrees at George Washington University for Eco Tourism and Planning and at Harvard University for Sustainable Landscape Design, Garden Design, Hotel Design and Development and Period Landscapes. He went on to become the Principal Landscape Architect for residential and resort master planning in Nassau, Bahamas including plans and designs for Lyford Cay residences and several resort hotel complexes. Later he designed the master plan for Inverrary, a 1,000 – acre golf course development and was the Planning Consultant for the Palm Beach Gardens Mall complex. He was a principal at the prestigious Palm Beach landscape architecture firm of Sanchez Maddux from 1982 until he retired in 2013.
“I have always enjoyed working with emerging talent and Fernando Wong is one of this country’s premier landscape designers. I was looking for a new challenge and after a few meetings everything just clicked,” said Maddux.
Wong was awarded the Design Center of Americas Star of Design award in 2011. He has also lectured on design at DCOTA as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami.
