August is just around the corner. For most people, this time signals the end of the summer season and a new, rapidly approaching school year. However, for those special individuals who have developed a passionate love affair with the culinary arts, August represents the Holy Grail for Miami foodies: Miami Spice 2014.

Lasting from August 1 through September 30, this two-month long epicurean event provides discounted menus to some of Miami’s most desirable eateries. Originally designed as a promotion to drive business during the slow summer months, Miami Spice offers diners prix-fixe rates (usually $39 for dinner; $24 for lunch ) at multiple locations throughout Miami-Dade County. Whether you desire a romantic dinner at one of Miami’s fine dining establishments or crave delicious cuisine in a more laid back setting, Miami Spice has the right place for you.


With over 160 participating restaurants, the choices are endless (and overwhelming), so here are our top picks to get the most bang for your buck:

BOURBON STEAK MIAMI: Currently Miami’s “IT” restaurant, Chef Michael Mina’s Aventura steakhouse is offering their Spice dinner menu seven days a week. Highlights include Sweet Corn & Maine Lobster Chowder, Truffle Chicken Pot Pie, Certified Angus Eye of Rib Eye and the Bourbon Steak Peanut Butter “Snickers” for dessert. This is the perfect location for a romantic evening or celebratory dinner. Dinner $39

PUBBELLY: Located in the neighborhood of Sunset Harbour in Miami Beach, this trendy gastropub is serving up pork-inspired dishes with Asian influences. Their Miami Spice menu, which will be offered Tuesday to Sunday for dinner only, includes a variety of dishes like Pork Belly & Scallion Dumplings, Braised Pork Cheeks, BBQ Pork Wings or bacon-miso Brussel Sprouts.  Dinner $39

TOUNGUE & CHEEK: This popular South Beach eatery provides a modern twist on classic cuisine. Offering both lunch and dinner options come check out their top-ranked burger (Chef Jamie DeRosa can cookie a mean burger) or for those with a sweet tooth, the Salted Pretzel Ice Cream is not to be missed. Lunch $23 & Dinner $39.

RED FISH GRILL: Nestled away in Matheson Hammock, this waterfront gem is a favorite among Miami locals. Equipped with twinkle-lit palm trees, unobstructed bay views and of course, delicious and fresh seafood, this promotional menu is a must. Red Fish Grill will be serving dinner on Tuesday to Sunday nights. Dinner $39

AZUL: If a luxury, waterfront-dining experience is what you seek, then look no further than Azul.   Located in the Mandarin Oriental, this five star establishment offers a blend of European and Asian cuisine and a stunning view of the Miami skyline. Azul will be offering their promotional dinner menu Tuesday through Saturday nights. Dinner $39
