Miami City Ballet Open Barre

On February 5th at 6:30pm and February 6 at 2:00pm, get up close and personal with the Miami City Ballet’s new production of George Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, an Open Barre performance.

Open Barre is a special dance series that takes place twice a year at MCB’s intimate 200-seat Lynn and Louis Wolfson, II Theatre on South Beach (2200 Liberty Avenue). It provides an in-depth, insider’s view of the Company, the School and a host of artists who will give audiences a unique perspective on the art form.

The talented dancers bring some of Shakespeare’s most celebrated characters to life. Join MCB Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez, playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney and the Miami City Ballet dancers for an exploration of the play, and how ballet dancers draw upon dramatic techniques from the theater for inspiration. Moderated by costume and design historian Tanya Williams Wetenhall.
