Food, glorious food; it’s definitely worth the waiting for! Food is so much more than just nourishment. It can be fun, seductive or even an experience. In fact, when you look back on your favorite moments traveling it probably incorporates food in some way. Whether it’s checking out the latest restaurant opening or hitting up a local street fair or farmer’s market, there’s no better way to learn about a city than by trying its local cuisine. This certainly holds true for Miami. Consisting of smaller towns and neighborhoods, the Greater Miami area is full of amazing places to dine.
With so many options it can get overwhelming, which is why the city of Coral Gables is helping out with their 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week 2014. More like restaurant weeks, participating restaurants will offer diners three weeks of special prix-fixe menus at discounted prices from June 9th – 29th. A foodies dream come true, this is the perfect opportunity to eat your way through Coral Gables and get a taste of new eateries and local favorites.
With 40 participating restaurants, this year’s event consists of a wide variety of fare and flavors. If you need some guidance, here are our top picks:
SWINE SOUTHERN TABLE & BAR
Cornbread and hushpuppies and meat, oh my! Upon entering Swine, you can’t help but bask in the powerful, smoky aroma of good ole’ fashioned BBQ. Serving up their take on traditional Southern cooking, this is the place to be for a fun night of friends, good bourbon and even better food. A word to the wise: save room for dessert!
This is not your average sushi joint. This Miami hot spot offers a blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cultures in their music, design and most importantly, their food. With dishes ranging from their specialty sushi Samba rolls to ribata grilled steak, Sushi Samba will please any palette. If you feel like venturing off the prix fixe menu, try the EL TOPO roll and thank us later.
Providing fine dining for over 30 years, this Coral Gables establishment is more than just a steakhouse; it’s a landmark. Offering a three-course dinner for only $38, this is clearly the best deal of the week. Menu item options include Caesar salad, pan seared snapper filet, a New York strip steak and homemade key lime pie. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it!
Like we said earlier, there’s no better way to experience a city than by eating your way through it. It’s time to have a mouth-watering night on the town and enjoy all the glorious food Coral Gables has to offer. Bon appétit, Miami!
