One of Sunset Harbour’s newest restaurants is La Moderna, an innovative twist of Italian inspired by the contemporary cuisine in Rome’s trendy Testaccio neighborhood.
Mixing old school Italian restaurant charm with modern twists like craft cocktails and adventurous ingredients, La Moderna is a welcome addition to the vibrant South Beach neighborhood. The menu includes a variety of made-from-scratch items, including brick oven pizzas (ask for the spicy olive oil to top it off!); homemade pastas like the Vermicelli Alla Carbonara (Vermicelli pasta served with guanciale, egg yolks, Pecorina cheese, fresh ground pepper, and truffle shavings); and mouth-watering entrees like the Polpo Alla Piastra (Grilled Octopus tentacles served with fresh tomatoes, capers, olives, and potato salad).
And food isn’t the only draw. La Moderna rises to the challenge of Miami’s exploding craft cocktail scene with a book of signature creations inspired by personalities and classic films, like the “Harry & Sally” (pictured bottom right) made with Milagro Silver tequila, Pimento Dram, fresh lime, Ancho Ryes, agave nectar and an egg white.
From the funky graphics accenting the menu to the bartenders’ uncanny ability to guess the signature drink you’re about to order, La Moderna’s charms offer an authentically fresh perspective to Miami’s diverse culinary landscape. Cool without crossing over into the realm of pretentiousness; indulgent without taking it over-the-top. We look forward to future culinary adventures at La Moderna.
