The unofficial start to summer and an important day of remembrance for our fallen soldiers, Memorial Day 2016 has arrived. Neighborhoods throughout Miami will celebrate with a diverse line-up of activities. Here are four fun ways to celebrate Memorial Day weekend in Miami:

  • Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will host a special Memorial Day celebration on the terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay. Enjoy live music by The Wynwoods and barbecue specials by Verde. Inside the iconic museum, explore exhibitions by Doris Salcedo,Michele Oka Doner, Matthew Ronay and more. Buy tickets.
  • Every Memorial Day Week, tens of thousands of hip-hop lovers head to Miami Beach for a week of parties, concerts and beach-going for the unofficial start of the summer season. Visitors flock to Miami Beach, whip out their best bikinis and beachwear and celebrate with celeb-filled parties, club night and concerts. Urban Beach Week, formerly known as Hip Hop Weekend, has always drawn a mix of Miami-locals, out-of-towners and hip hop heavyweights like P Diddy, T.I., Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, the Miami Heat’s DJ Irie and more. Clubs all around Miami Beach pack the week with lavish and over-the-top parties that range from ultra-exclusive to accessible to everyone.
  • Grab the family and head to Marlins Park for Colombia vs. Haiti on Sunday, May 29th at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $30 to $300 via miami.marlins.mlb.com. Russia 2018 World Cup hopefuls Colombia are a national pride packed with talent that features the likes of David Ospina of Arsenal and mighty no. 10, James Rodríguez of Real Madrid. The Haitian side is especially scrappy and could make their Colombian counterparts work.
  • On Sunday, May 29th at 2pm, the Bayfront Park Ampitheater will host the Best of the Best Concert, a massive, four-day fest with parties around the city. The crown jewel and main show is a 10-hour event held at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.
