As an coastal metropolitan, Miami offers the unique combinations of fast-paced city living with peaceful nature. A quick trip out on any local waterway can transport you far away from the hustle & bustle of the city…and more importantly, the lights!

On Wednesday, August 12, 2015, the year’s biggest meteor shower will light up the skies, and you can get front-row seats from the middle of the bay by kayak or stand up paddleboard.  The Perseids are an annual, late-summer meteor shower, and the majority of fireball activity is expected on Wednesday night.

Kayakers and stand-up-paddlerboarders are meeting at the Virginia Key Outdoor Center for a 7pm adventure. You must be in the park by 7pm and tell them at the gate that you are there for the kayak and paddleboard trip. You must also bring a light, and change of clothes and towel for after are strongly recommended. Drinks and snacks are available in the park.
