Tuesday is May 5. Although many people believe Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s Independence Day, it’s actually a day honoring their victory over French forces on May 5, 1862 known as The Battle of Puebla. Did we just blow your minds? Perhaps.

Either way, Cinco de Mayo is a day to celebrate Mexican pride and what better way to celebrate than to consume significant amounts of tacos, burritos and of course, tequila!

There are few other cities that enjoy a good excuse to party like Miami, so grab your sombrero and check out these local fiestas.

COYO Taco’s Cinco de Mayo Block Party

Wynwood’s COYO Taco is throwing the ultimate fiesta featuring luchador matches with Mexico’s famed Blue Demon Jr. in their back patio starting at 6:30 PM. With $5 all night specials of tacos, margaritas, ceviche, beer, and cochinta pibil pig roast, this party is not to be missed. The event will also include live music and entertainment, so hurry up and purchase your $10 pre sale tickets before they’re gone! With their hashtag #ImInLoveWithTheCOYO, you know you’re in for an epic night!

Cinco de Mayo Brickell Fest

Come celebrate the 4th Annual Brickell Fest Cinco de Mayo event at American Social. The party starts at 6 PM and features Miami’s own DJ Irie, mariachis and mini luchadores. Tickets start at $30 and get you one 16 oz sponsored beer, a souvenir sombrero and a mustache tattoo.

Clandestino Pub

If you’re a fan of quality craft beer, live music and good grub then check out this local Washington Avenue joint. Enjoy live music and Mexican beer specials all night long!

Radio Bar

Become the life of the party by serving up your own tequila elixirs with Radio Bar’s monthly series Tune In With Teddy & Friends: Monthly Mixology Classes. Hosted by Teddy Collins and a surprise guest, learn how to craft two tequila cocktails and enjoy take-home gifts at the end of the session. Cinco de Mayo celebrations will follow with $5 Avion punch and shots. Be sure to sign up in advance!

Tongue & Cheek

This Tuesday, enjoy $5 tequila shots, $5 micheladas and $5 snacks at this South Beach hotspot. They’ll be giving away souvenir sombreros, mustache tattoos and lucha libre masks to get the party started!

Happy Cinco de Drinko, Miami!
