Chow Down on National Sandwich Month

August is National Sandwich Month and Tanzy Restaurant in Boca is celebrating with a mouth-watering showdown.

Tanzy Restaurants across the country are serving up two savory love-between-the-slices concoctions: Eric Greenspan’s Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich and Ben Ford’s Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Created by “Serious Sandwich Maker” Eric Greenspan and Tanzy’s James Beard Award-winning VP of Culinary Sherry Yard, Greenspan’s sandwich is made with challah, pimento cheese, pickles, red hot mayo and slow cooked greens. From Yard and chef Ben Ford, guests can enjoy a sandwich made with BBQ pork, gouda, pickled peppers and Texas toast.

Served as a combo, guests will be receiving half of one sandwich and half of another for $18. As such, diners will be able to vote in their favorite sandwich via a paper ballot and online on Facebook. Use the hashtags: #TeamBen #TeamEric #howdoyouipic  #sandwichmonth to rave about your favorite! The winning sandwich will be announced at the end of the month. Whole sandwiches are available upon request.

Greenspan, a critically acclaimed chef and restaurateur, affectionately referred to as a “Serious Sandwich Maker” was once named 944 Magazine’s “Most Buzzworthy Chef in America.” Greenspan is also the mind behind an award-winning cheese sandwich that can be found at Greenspan’s Grilled Cheese in Los Angeles. Ford is known for his stints at some of the country’s most established restaurants, owning the highly-acclaimed Ford’s Filling Station, and being awarded the prestigious Cochon555 prize.
